St. Chad's Choral Outreach Programme
The programme was originally established in 2012 by David and Alexandra Eve Wynne.
At first the project, in the form of a pilot, focused mainly upon one school, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Nechells, Birmingham. Funding was provided by St Chad’s Cathedral with a contribution from the school itself. The pilot was so successful that sponsorship was secured for a further four years to enable the number of schools to be expanded. St. Chad's Cathedral continue to support this project.
An off-shoot of SCCOP is the St. Chad's Cathedral Junior Choir, again run by David and Alexandra preparing children to perform in services at the Cathedral and concerts further afield. Recent external engagements have included performing with Birmingham Philharmonic at Birmingham Town Hall for a performance of the Snowman at Christmas, Carmina Burana - Carl Orff with Birmingham Festival Choral Society at Birmingham University and St. Nicolas - Benjamin Britten with the Half Circle Singers.
